Function first
Industrial clients care about throughput, safety and uptime. Column spacing, floor flatness, clear height, power capacity and dock layout all affect how the building performs, so we ask about your operations before we talk about finishes.
We work on new construction and renovations or tenant improvements up to $50,000,000, from fitting out a leased unit to adding a mezzanine or a new process area to a working plant.
Self-performed trades
Industrial work is heavy on electrical and mechanical. HSM self-performs both. Our electrical crew, led by a Master Electrician, handles power distribution, lighting, controls and equipment hook-up. Our mechanical crew installs HVAC, makeup air, compressed air and plumbing, and process piping where the scope fits.
Our framing, drywall and ceiling crews build the offices and lunchrooms, our carpenters and painters finish them, and our low voltage group installs security, access control, surveillance and networks. Fewer contractors means shut-downs are planned once, not negotiated between several firms.
Building types we handle
The industrial sector covers a wide mix of building types and upgrades.
- Warehouses, distribution centres and cold storage
- Manufacturing plants and process piping areas
- Shops and service bays and flex industrial units
- Mezzanines and loading docks
- Industrial office fit-outs and equipment foundations
What to plan for
Working inside an operating facility needs careful planning. We schedule around shifts, isolate work areas, and plan utility shut-downs with you in advance. Safety is led by our Director of Health & Safety, Ghilda Gaber, and site orientation is part of every project.
Alberta winters affect slab pours, roof work and dock construction, so seasonal timing matters. Call 1 800 716 8955 or email contact@hsmcm.ca to discuss your facility.
Why one team matters
Industrial projects fail on coordination more often than on technical difficulty. A shut-down is wasted if the electrical, mechanical and structural crews are not ready at the same time. Because HSM self-performs the electrical, mechanical, interior and low voltage scopes, we control the schedule instead of negotiating it.
That means faster response, tighter cost control and a single team accountable for the result.
