Public, busy and regulated
Airports, transit stations and depots are used all day, and many have strict security, access and safety rules. Work often takes place at night or in small, staged zones. We plan around operations, coordinate with owners and authorities, and keep public routes safe and clear.
Our projects are renovations and new construction up to $50,000,000, such as terminal tenant improvements, kiosks, lounges, screening areas and facility upgrades.
Our crews do the work
Transportation buildings depend on electrical, mechanical and low voltage systems. HSM self-performs electrical work, led by a Master Electrician, mechanical (HVAC and plumbing), low voltage and security, interior systems, carpentry and millwork, painting, and doors and hardware. With one team, coordination is simple and shut-downs are planned once.
Where passenger flow, signage, security and displays interlock, having the same company do the wiring, ceilings, millwork and networks reduces the gaps that cause delay.
Building types we handle
Our transportation work covers public-facing and operational facilities.
- Airport terminals, airport kiosks and airline lounges
- Security screening areas and wayfinding upgrades
- Transit stations and bus depots
- Parking structures
- Vehicle maintenance facilities, rental car facilities and logistics hubs
What to plan for
Security clearances, escorted access and badging can add lead time at airports and some transit sites. Ask your facility about requirements early, and tell us who needs clearance. Our Director of Health & Safety, Ghilda Gaber, leads site safety planning.
Winter weather and de-icing, salt and snow load affect materials and schedules. Call 1 800 716 8955 or email contact@hsmcm.ca to talk through your project.
Why one team matters
Transportation work involves tight windows, secured sites and many stakeholders. HSM's own electrical, mechanical, low voltage and interior crews reduce the number of firms that need clearances, orientation and coordination. Fewer parties on site means a quieter, safer and more predictable job.
One project manager, one schedule and one accountable team give owners a clear line of contact.
