Building around the school year
Schools, colleges and training centres run on fixed calendars. Summer, winter and spring breaks are the main windows for noisy or disruptive work, and the first day of classes does not move. That makes planning, ordering and sequencing the main job.
HSM works on new construction and on renovations up to $50,000,000. Because we self-perform most trades, we can run extra shifts and adjust the sequence quickly when a break is short.
Education clients often work with public funding and clear approval steps. We provide a single project manager, a clear schedule and plain reporting, and our calls and email are answered 24/7/365.
Safe, healthy learning spaces
Children and students need good air, good light, clean acoustics and safe surroundings. Our mechanical crew handles HVAC and plumbing, and our Master Electrician-led crew handles lighting, power and emergency systems. Our low voltage team handles alarms, AV, surveillance and sound.
Our Director of Health & Safety, Ghilda Gaber, leads site safety, including separation from occupied areas.
When HVAC, lighting, alarms and finishes are done by one company, we can complete a classroom or wing in stages and hand it back to the school sooner.

What to plan for
Funding approvals, permits and long-lead equipment can all affect the start date. Alberta winters also matter for site work, deliveries and concrete, so we plan the sequence with the weather in mind.
After the build, HSM can add security systems, digital signage, computer networks, furniture and building maintenance as turn-key services.
Safety on or beside an operating school is non-negotiable. We plan fencing, deliveries and work hours with the school, and we keep a clear line of communication with administrators throughout.

Can HSM work during the school year?
Often, in separated zones with dust, noise and safety controls. The noisiest work is usually saved for breaks and after hours.
