Homes that stay occupied
Most multi-family work happens around people who live there. Noise, water shutoffs, power outages and access to parking all affect residents directly. Good planning, clear notices and short, predictable interruptions matter as much as the finished work.
HSM self-performs electrical work under a Master Electrician and mechanical work including HVAC and plumbing. Those are the trades that most often require shutdowns, so controlling them ourselves gives residents and property managers more reliable schedules.

New and existing buildings
We take on new construction and renovations up to $50,000,000. Renovations are a large part of multi-family work: ageing buildings need new mechanical systems, upgraded electrical service, fire and life safety improvements, and fresh interiors.
For owners and boards, we can help before design with condition assessments, phasing plans and budgets, so major decisions are made with real numbers.
Owners, boards and managers
Condominium boards, non-profit housing providers and property managers each have different decision processes. We prepare clear options and costs, attend meetings when needed, and keep communication with residents simple and regular.
Our in-house engineering team, led by Dr. Magdy Istafanous, supports technical decisions. Our offices in Edmonton and St. Albert answer calls and email 24/7/365, which matters when a building problem cannot wait for office hours.
Local and reachable
HSM is based in Edmonton, with a second office in St. Albert. We have completed more than 1,000 projects, and our team of project managers, engineers and trade leads is available to discuss your building at any stage.
Questions we hear
Can you renovate while residents live in the building?
Yes. We phase work by floor, suite or system, give notice for any shutoffs and keep work areas separate from resident routes.
