What a process area needs
A piping area is not only pipe. It needs supports, containment, drainage, ventilation, lighting, access and often special floor finishes. Spill containment and chemical-resistant coatings protect the building and the environment, and good access allows operators to maintain valves, pumps and instruments safely.
Because processes vary, we begin by understanding what flows through the system, at what pressure and temperature, and how it must be cleaned or maintained. That drives material choices, spacing and layout.
How HSM approaches the work
Our mechanical crew installs HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, compressed air and utility piping, and we coordinate with specialty process contractors or the equipment supplier when the system requires certified procedures. Where engineering design is required, our in-house engineering team, led by Dr. Magdy Istafanous, works with your engineers and the authority having jurisdiction.
Our electrical crew, led by a Master Electrician, provides power, control wiring, instrumentation raceways, lighting and hazardous-location wiring where the design calls for it. Having both trades under one project manager prevents the clashes that arise when pipe, conduit and ductwork share the same overhead space.

Planning and safety
Permits and inspections apply to many piping systems, particularly those involving pressure, gas or hazardous materials. We identify what is required early and keep the documentation organized for inspectors and your records.
Shut-downs are often tied to tie-ins to existing lines, so we prepare the work off-line and keep live time short. Our Director of Health & Safety, Ghilda Gaber, leads our safety planning, including lockout, confined space considerations and site-specific orientation.
Documentation and future changes
Process systems change over time. Accurate drawings, labelled lines, valve tags and clear isolation points make future modifications safer and quicker. We hand over as-built documentation as part of every project.
Leave room for growth when you can, including spare supports, spare conduit and clear access.
