Part of our mechanical team
Plumbing sits with HVAC in HSM's mechanical group. The same office plans both, which helps because pipes, ducts and conduit all fight for the same walls and ceilings. When one team coordinates them, clashes are solved on paper and not in the field.
Having our own plumbers also means one schedule. Rough-in, inspection, wall closing and fixture set happen in order, with our framers and drywall crews right behind.
What the crew covers
We handle plumbing on new construction, renovations and tenant improvements up to $50,000,000.
- Washroom construction and fixture installation
- Domestic water supply and hot water systems
- Drainage and venting
- Grease interceptors for food service
- Backflow prevention
- Medical gas where a project requires it
- Gas piping to heaters, kitchens and equipment
- Ongoing plumbing maintenance
Alberta conditions
Freezing is the big concern. Pipes in exterior walls, unheated spaces and roof areas need insulation, heat or routing changes. In renovations we check where existing lines run before closing anything up.
Plumbing work is permitted and inspected under Alberta's Safety Codes system, and the National Plumbing Code applies as adopted in the province. Permits, inspections and testing are part of our scope.
What to plan for
Plumbing choices made early affect everything else. Washroom counts and fixture types set pipe sizes, floor drains and wall thicknesses. Food service, healthcare and lab tenants have special needs we should know about during site selection.
Existing buildings sometimes surprise us with old drain lines, limited water pressure or inaccessible shutoffs. Our team investigates early, with camera inspections where useful, and tells you what is found.
Call us any time. Phone and email are answered 24/7/365, and a burst pipe does not wait for business hours.
Our crew also works with the project's engineers on fixture counts and pipe sizing before any pipe is ordered.
