Built around opening day
A restaurant that opens late loses revenue it never gets back. A hotel that cannot hand over rooms on time disrupts bookings, staff and brand commitments. We plan hospitality work backward from the date you need to open, and we protect that date with one schedule and one accountable team.
Many of our clients are operators who keep trading while we work. We phase construction, protect guest areas, and schedule noisy or disruptive work for the hours that suit your business.
Our own trades do the work
HSM self-performs electrical work, led by a Master Electrician, along with mechanical (HVAC and plumbing), low voltage and security, framing, drywall and ceilings, carpentry and millwork, painting, and doors and hardware. Hospitality spaces are dense with these trades: kitchen exhaust and make-up air, bar plumbing, specialty lighting, sound, AV, millwork and feature finishes.
When one company coordinates all of that, fewer handoffs get missed. Your project manager talks to the crew that is actually on site, and a change on Tuesday can be priced and scheduled by Wednesday.
Building types we handle
Our hospitality work covers the full range of guest-facing and back-of-house spaces.
- Hotels, airport hotels and hotel room renovations
- Banquet halls, convention centres and event venues
- Restaurants, quick-service restaurants and cafes
- Bars and pubs
- Commercial kitchens
What to plan for
Start early. Involving us before the lease is signed lets us check mechanical capacity, grease interceptor requirements, exhaust routes and occupancy limits against your concept, so the construction cost is known before you commit.
Alberta projects also need to account for Safety Codes permits, health inspection requirements for food premises, and winter construction conditions. We manage these as part of the work. Call 1 800 716 8955 or email contact@hsmcm.ca to talk through your project.
Why one team matters
Hospitality fit-outs involve many trades working in tight spaces against a fixed opening date. When electrical, mechanical, drywall, millwork and low voltage all sit under one company, there is one schedule and one point of accountability. Owners and operators deal with a single project manager rather than chasing several subcontractors.
We can also look after what comes after opening: security systems, digital signage, computer networks, furniture and building maintenance. That means one call when something needs attention.
Questions we hear
Can you work in an operating hotel or restaurant?
Yes. We phase the work, isolate construction areas, and schedule disruptive tasks around your trading hours.
