Where electrical and mechanical lead
Whether it is a fuel canopy, a charging hub or a battery room, the building exists to house or support energy equipment. That puts electrical and mechanical scope at the centre. Our electrical crew is led by a Master Electrician, and our mechanical crew handles HVAC and plumbing, so the core work stays with one team.
We also build the buildings around the equipment: convenience stores, wash bays, offices, control rooms and utility enclosures, using our own interior, carpentry and finishing crews.
Building types we handle
Our energy and fuel work spans retail, infrastructure and clean energy.
- Gas stations, fuel canopies and truck stops
- EV charging stations and car washes
- Solar installations and battery storage rooms
- Utility buildings and substation buildings
- Clean energy retrofits and standby generator installs
What to plan for
These projects often involve more than one approval path: municipal development and building permits, Alberta Safety Codes permits for electrical, gas and fuel systems, and in some cases utility interconnection agreements. Utility timelines can be longer than construction, so start those conversations early.
Winter matters on exposed sites. Concrete, canopies and underground work need to be scheduled with cold weather in mind. We can also support the operate phase with security, signage, networks and building maintenance. Call 1 800 716 8955 or email contact@hsmcm.ca.
Why one team matters
Fuel and energy sites involve several specialists. Fuel system contractors, equipment suppliers, utilities and inspectors all play a part. HSM keeps the building, electrical and mechanical scope with one self-performing team, which reduces the number of parties you have to manage.
That means fewer gaps between trades, quicker answers on site, and one point of accountability for the building and its systems.
