What we build

Technology and Data Construction

Technology spaces run on power, cooling and connectivity. HSM builds them in Alberta with our own electrical, mechanical and low voltage trades, so the critical systems are built by one accountable team.

Technology and Data Construction

What makes technology spaces different

A technology building is judged by uptime. Servers, labs and studios depend on clean power, steady temperatures and well-planned cabling. A small mistake in a panel schedule or a cooling layout can show up as downtime years later.

That is why self-performing matters here. Our electrical crew, led by Master Electrician Adam Williams, and our mechanical crew build the systems that keep the equipment running. Our low voltage team, led by Adam Mason, handles cabling, security and surveillance.

Spaces we build

The sector covers a wide mix of rooms and buildings. Each has its own page with detail.

Engineering built in

Many technology projects need load calculations, heat-rejection planning and structural checks. Our in-house engineering team, led by Dr. Magdy Istafanous, works with the designers and with our trades from the start. This reduces redesign and helps the budget stay honest.

We also build inside live facilities. Phased work, careful shutdown planning and clear communication with your IT or operations team are standard practice.

Planning a technology project

Equipment such as switchgear, generators, cooling units and racks can have long lead times. We order early and plan around them. Alberta winters also affect exterior equipment, so cold-weather planning is part of the design. We handle municipal permits and Alberta Safety Codes permits for electrical and mechanical work, and offer turn-key services including networks and security systems.

Our offices in Edmonton and St. Albert take calls and email around the clock, every day of the year. Technology owners often face urgent timelines, so we respond quickly and give straight answers on cost and schedule. With most trades in-house, we can adjust the plan as your equipment decisions change, without a long chain of change orders between separate firms.

Questions we hear

Do you build inside operating facilities?

Yes. We phase work, plan outages with your team and protect live equipment from dust and vibration.
