Floors and walls built for impact
Sports floors take constant impact and need the right base. Moisture is a common cause of failure, so slab conditions are tested before flooring goes in. Wall padding, backing for equipment and door protection are built to last.
Our carpenters install backing for basketball hoops, wall mats and bleachers, and our finishing crews handle paint, line work coordination and trim.
In older gyms, we check the slab, subfloor and drainage before choosing a new floor. Fixing a moisture problem first is much cheaper than replacing a new floor later.
Lighting and power
Gym lighting needs even light without glare. High-bay fixtures, protective guards and controls for different uses are common. Our Master Electrician-led crew installs lighting, scoreboards, sound systems power and emergency lighting.
Our low voltage team installs the public address system, cameras and alarms.
Ventilation and heating
A gym is a big volume with many active people, so ventilation and heating matter. Our mechanical crew designs air handling that keeps air fresh and temperatures comfortable, without noisy diffusers or drafts across the court.
Change rooms, washrooms and showers need plumbing, drainage and ventilation, and our mechanical team handles them, including accessible fixtures.
Acoustics
Hard surfaces produce echo. Acoustic wall panels, ceiling treatments and baffles improve speech clarity for announcements and teaching. Our interior systems crew installs them, and we coordinate with lighting and ductwork.
The gym is also used for assemblies and community events, so sound quality counts.
Planning notes
Equipment such as bleachers, hoops and sports flooring has long lead times. Plan work for summer when possible, and allow curing and off-gassing time for floors before the room is used.
Our own crews coordinate high-bay lighting, ventilation and acoustic panels, so ceiling work happens once and in the right order.
