Wayfinding Upgrades

Good wayfinding helps people reach their destination without stress. HSM installs signs, displays and supporting infrastructure in terminals, stations and other busy buildings.

Wayfinding Upgrades

More than signs

Wayfinding combines design, placement and installation. Sign type, size, height, lighting, language, symbols and consistency all influence whether people notice and understand it. Decision points such as entrances, intersections, stairs and elevators are where signs matter most.

Accessibility is part of the job: tactile and braille elements, contrast, readable fonts, and mounting heights. Digital wayfinding adds dynamic information like gate changes or platform updates.

What we install

Installing signs often exposes hidden work. Hanging signs need structural support in ceilings. Illuminated signs need power and controls. Digital displays need power, network cabling and mounting. Our electrical crew, led by a Master Electrician, provides power, and our low voltage group installs data cabling, media players, networks and control systems. Our carpenters and framing crew build mounts, enclosures and feature elements.

Our painters and finishers handle patching, repainting and floor or wall graphics, and our ceiling crew modifies tiles and grids where signs are hung. One crew doing all of it avoids multiple visits.

What to plan for

A wayfinding programme is easiest to deliver in phases. Start with the highest-traffic routes, then expand. Install work is usually done off-peak, often overnight, to avoid crowding.

Plan for the content as well as the hardware. Someone needs to own digital messages, update schedules and maintain signs. We can support the operate phase with digital signage, networks and building maintenance after the install is complete.

Keeping it consistent

Wayfinding works when it is consistent. Keep a master drawing of every sign location, message and mounting detail, so replacements and additions match. Review the system after a few months of use and adjust based on how people actually move.

We can help maintain the system so that signs stay clean, lit and accurate.
