Event Venue Construction

Event venues sell a feeling and a flexible room. HSM builds spaces that look good, sound right, and let your team set up and tear down quickly.

Event Venue Construction

Flexible spaces that earn their keep

A venue's revenue depends on how many different events it can host. Neutral finishes, movable partitions, strong power and data distribution, and generous storage let one room serve a wedding on Saturday and a trade show on Monday. We help you work through which flexibility is worth paying for and which is not.

Approvals follow occupancy. The number of guests the venue is approved for sets exits, washrooms, ventilation and life safety. We confirm those figures early so that your business plan and the building agree.

Light, sound and atmosphere

Lighting and audio do most of the work in creating mood. Our electrical crew, led by a Master Electrician, installs dimming, feature and architectural lighting, power for production, and emergency systems. Our Low Voltage Systems Manager, Adam Mason, leads installations of audio, video, wireless, sound masking and surveillance.

Our ceiling, drywall, carpentry and painting crews handle acoustic treatment, stage or DJ platforms, bars, feature walls and entrances. Our mechanical crew sizes ventilation and cooling for peak occupancy, which is often the most overlooked item on small venues.

Practical planning

Think about the whole event flow: arrival, registration, cloakroom, washrooms, bar service, catering access and load-out. Vendors need a loading path that does not cut through the guest area.

Neighbours and noise limits need attention, especially in mixed-use buildings. Address sound transmission in the construction, and check municipal rules on hours and amplified sound. We can also add security, signage and networks so the venue is ready to book as soon as it opens.

Getting ready to book

A venue starts earning when its first event is booked, so we plan construction to finish with time to spare for photographs, tours and a trial event. Allow time for commissioning of lighting, sound and ventilation, and for staff to learn the controls.

We can also help with networks, security, signage and furniture so the venue is complete when you open the doors.
