Clothing Store Renovation

A store renovation has to refresh the space without losing sales for long. This project shows how we plan for speed and care.

Renovating a working store

Retailers lose money when doors are closed, so renovation schedules matter. We plan the work to be fast, with materials ordered ahead and trades lined up. In some cases we can phase the work or run it overnight to reduce the closure.

We start with a thorough site review. Existing ceilings, flooring and mechanical systems are rarely as drawn, and early discovery avoids delays later.

A clear scope and a firm start date help most. We confirm what stays, what goes and what is new before work begins.

What gets updated

Typical clothing store renovations include new flooring, wall finishes, ceiling and lighting changes, new fitting rooms, fixtures and cash wrap areas. Our interior systems, carpentry and painting crews handle most of this directly.

Lighting upgrades can change the whole feel of a store. Our electrical team, led by a Master Electrician, installs new fixtures and controls, and our mechanical crew adjusts HVAC and plumbing to suit the new layout.

Keeping it moving

Because HSM self-performs, we avoid the waiting that comes from booking separate subcontractors for each step. Our site team shifts crews between tasks and holds a single schedule.

We also protect inventory, fixtures and neighbouring tenants. Dust control, floor protection and orderly storage keep surrounding areas safe.

  • Floors, walls and ceilings refreshed
  • New lighting and controls
  • Updated security and point-of-sale cabling
  • Staff and back-of-house improvements

Planning ahead

Seasonal sales shape retail calendars. We help owners pick a window that fits their year, and flag long-lead items like custom fixtures or feature lighting early. Landlord approvals, permits and any Alberta Safety Codes requirements are arranged as part of our work, so the reopening date stays realistic.

After reopening, we stay reachable. Calls and email are answered 24/7/365, so a flickering light or a door that will not latch gets fixed without a long wait.

Questions we hear

Can the store stay open?

Sometimes. It depends on scope and landlord rules. We can phase work or schedule it after hours to reduce lost sales.
