Athletic footwear stores are built around display. This project shows how we handle wall systems, lighting and traffic-ready finishes.

A store built around walls

Shoe stores rely on large wall displays, shelving and seating. These need accurate framing, strong backing for heavy loads and precise installation so product lines up cleanly.

Our interior systems team frames and finishes the walls, adding blocking where fixtures will sit. Our carpenters build or install shelving, bench seating and cash wraps to suit the brand.

Lighting that sells product

Good lighting makes products stand out and reduces glare. Our electrical team, led by a Master Electrician, installs display lighting, track and ambient fixtures and aims them as the design intends. Controls allow different settings for opening, daytime and close.

Retail stores also need a lot of power in the right places for digital screens, demo areas and registers. We plan circuits and outlets with the layout in mind. Our low voltage group handles cabling, digital signage, security cameras and alarms.

Finishes made for foot traffic

Floors in a shoe store see heavy use, including try-ons, children and wet weather in winter. We help clients choose durable flooring and entrance materials that can handle Alberta slush and salt.

Our painting crew finishes walls to a clean, even standard, and our door and hardware crew installs storefront and stockroom doors that hold up to daily use.

Building systems and schedule

Our mechanical crew installs HVAC and plumbing, including staff washrooms and back-of-house needs. Comfortable air matters when customers stay and try on shoes. One team coordinating all the trades helps protect the opening date, which is usually the most important date in any retail project.

We also keep an eye on cost. Fewer subcontractors means fewer markups and fewer gaps between scopes, which helps owners hold a budget on a fit-out with many repeated details.

Questions we hear

Does HSM install digital signage?

Yes. Digital signage is one of our turn-key services, and our low voltage team handles the cabling and installation.
