Optometry Clinic and Glasses Store

This project combines a medical-style clinic with a retail store. Our own trades make the two parts work together.

Clinic and shop under one roof

An optometry clinic has exam rooms, pre-testing areas and often a lab, while the glasses store is open, bright and customer-facing. These two uses must connect smoothly, yet each needs different lighting, privacy and services.

We plan a layout that moves patients from reception to testing to fitting without confusion. Our project managers work with the owner to place rooms for good flow and sound privacy.

Exam rooms and equipment

Exam rooms need controlled lighting, often dimmable, and accurate room dimensions for testing equipment. They also need dedicated power, data and sinks. Our electrical team, led by a Master Electrician, and our mechanical crew for HVAC and plumbing install these services to the equipment supplier's requirements.

Sound control between rooms matters for privacy. Our interior systems team builds walls and ceilings designed to reduce noise transfer.

The retail side

The glasses store is about display, mirrors and fitting. Our carpentry and millwork crew builds wall displays, fitting counters and mirror stations, and our electrical team adds bright, glare-free lighting. Our painters finish the space to a clean standard.

Our low voltage group adds data cabling for patient systems, plus cameras, alarms and digital signage.

Planning an opening

Clinics often depend on equipment delivery dates, so we coordinate closely with suppliers and keep the schedule realistic. Clinical spaces also have standards for cleanability and accessibility, and the owner's professional regulator may have its own requirements. We build to those once confirmed, and we handle building permits and inspections.

With one team on both clinic and retail, finishes match and the opening date stays in focus.

We also keep the budget visible. Self-performing electrical, mechanical and interior work means fewer subcontractors, tighter quality control and quicker answers when the equipment supplier changes a requirement.

Questions we hear

Can a clinic and retail space share one build?

Yes. We plan both as one project, with separate services and finishes where each use needs them.
