Small units, big constraints
An airport kiosk may be only a few metres across, but it sits in a controlled environment with strict rules. Work often happens at night, tools and materials must be cleared, and access to the site may involve security screening and escorts.
We plan for these limits from the start. Prefabrication in our shop reduces time spent in the terminal, so installation can be quick and quiet.
Built in our shop, installed on site
Our carpentry and millwork crew can fabricate kiosk casework, counters and display elements off site, then install them in short work windows. Our painters and interior systems crew finish edges and adjacent surfaces.
Kiosks need power and data in exactly the right place. Our electrical team, led by a Master Electrician, brings circuits to the unit, and our low voltage group installs cabling, point-of-sale connections, cameras and digital signage.
Rules, approvals and safety
Airports have their own approval processes, in addition to normal building and safety code permits. Terminal operators typically review designs, materials and construction methods. We coordinate these approvals early.
Fire safety, egress and accessibility all affect kiosk size and placement. Our team confirms them with the operator and builds to the approved drawings.
- Overnight and off-peak work windows
- Shop-built casework
- Power and data in a tight footprint
- Security screening and escorts
Why self-performing helps
Short work windows leave no room for waiting. Our own crews can arrive together, finish a task in a single shift and leave the area clean. If something changes, we adjust the plan with one phone call.
For a small project, that means fewer delays, a cleaner site and a kiosk that opens on time.
Kiosks are a good example of the HSM model at small scale. Millwork, electrical, low voltage and finishing are all handled in-house, so a compact unit is built by one coordinated team rather than a chain of subcontractors.
Questions we hear
Can kiosk work happen at night?
Yes. We regularly plan work for off-peak windows and prefabricate where possible to reduce time on site.
