Why arenas upgrade lighting
Arena lights run for long hours and are hard to reach. Older fixtures use more energy, produce uneven light and need frequent maintenance. New LED systems usually use less power, give better light for players and spectators and reduce service calls.
Light quality matters for safety and for the experience. Even light, low glare and good colour help players see the puck or ball and help spectators see the game.
An electrical project first
This is core work for our electrical team, led by a Master Electrician. We assess existing circuits, panels and controls, then design a layout that fits the building. Work includes new fixtures, wiring, controls and testing.
Controls offer real value. Zones and dimming let operators use full light for games and lower levels for practice, cleaning or events.
Access and safety at height
Fixtures sit high above the ice or floor. Working there needs lifts, careful planning and trained crews. On an ice arena, equipment must be protected and floors planned around.
Our health and safety program, led by our Director of Health & Safety, guides work at height, lockout of power and safe site access. We coordinate with facility staff so the building stays safe for everyone nearby.

Timing and cost
Arena seasons set the schedule. Many owners prefer to work in the off-season, and we plan materials and crew to finish before the first booking. Some municipal owners may also have funding programs that affect timing, so we recommend confirming this early.
Because our own electricians do the work, we can give clear pricing and a direct schedule, and respond quickly to any issue after handover.
Self-performing this work means the same electricians who plan the upgrade install it, so knowledge is not lost between estimating and the site. Our team is reachable 24/7/365 if a fixture or control needs attention later.
Questions we hear
Can lighting be upgraded without closing the arena?
Sometimes, in phases. Off-season work is usually faster and safer, and we plan around the facility's bookings.
