Colour with a purpose
Colour helps children find their way, defines play areas and makes a space feel friendly. It must also be practical. Paints and finishes need to be durable, washable and low in odour.
Our painters and interior systems crew handle feature walls, graphic elements supplied by the owner, and clean, even finishes everywhere else. We use materials that suit frequent cleaning.
Safety at child scale
Everything in a daycare is designed for small people. Door hardware, light switches, sinks and toilets are set at suitable heights. Corners are protected, and glazing, hinges and outlets are chosen to reduce risk.
Our carpenters build child-height casework, cubbies and half-walls that allow staff to see across rooms. Our door and hardware crew installs hardware that closes safely.
Air, water and light
Healthy air matters for young children. Our mechanical crew installs HVAC and plumbing, including diaper-change areas, kitchenettes and child-scale washrooms. Good ventilation and stable temperature keep rooms comfortable.
Our electrical team, led by a Master Electrician, provides bright, even lighting and safe power with tamper-resistant devices where appropriate. Our low voltage group installs access control, cameras and intercoms so only approved adults enter.
- Washable, durable finishes
- Child-height fixtures
- Controlled entry and cameras
- Outdoor play area access
Licensing and planning
In Alberta, child care programs follow provincial licensing standards, and owners should confirm requirements for space, fire safety and washrooms early. We build to the approved design and coordinate inspections.
Because we self-perform the major trades, we answer questions quickly and keep a single schedule for an opening date that parents are waiting on.
Self-performing the electrical, mechanical and interior trades means one team stays accountable for the whole room, from the air to the paint. Fewer subcontractors on site also means fewer unfamiliar faces around children.
Questions we hear
Can you build to child care licensing requirements?
We build to the approved plans. Owners should confirm provincial licensing requirements early so the design reflects them.
