Scale changes everything
Convention centres have large halls, high ceilings, many exits and heavy power needs. Ventilation, lighting and acoustics all work at a scale that most offices never see.
We begin by understanding how the space will be used: trade shows, conferences, banquets or concerts. Each puts different demands on power, sound and layout.
Systems for events
Exhibit floors need power and data available across the room. Our electrical team, led by a Master Electrician, builds distribution that can serve booths and staging, along with lighting that can shift from work light to show light.
Our low voltage group installs audio visual, sound systems, networks, surveillance and digital signage for wayfinding. Our mechanical crew handles HVAC and plumbing, including washrooms and concession services that must handle large crowds.
Finishes that take a beating
Floors, walls and doors in a convention space face heavy traffic, rolling equipment and frequent cleaning. We select durable finishes and protect corners and edges. Our interior systems, carpentry and painting crews handle partitions, ceilings, millwork and touch-ups.
Operable walls are common in these buildings. They must be installed accurately and supported by the building structure, and our team coordinates this early.
- Floor power and data distribution
- Flexible lighting zones
- Wayfinding and digital signage
- Durable, repairable finishes
Working around the event calendar
The biggest planning issue is access. Events are booked months ahead, and construction must work in the gaps. We build schedules with the operator, using off-peak times and phased areas so the facility keeps earning.
Self-performing most trades gives us the flexibility to mobilize quickly in a short window. Our building maintenance service can support the facility afterward.
Self-performing the electrical and mechanical work matters most at this scale. These systems drive cost and schedule in a large hall, and keeping them with our own crews means fewer handoffs, steadier pricing and faster decisions on site.
Questions we hear
Can work be done between events?
Yes. We plan phased work around the booking calendar, using our own crews to mobilize quickly in short windows.
