Public access and staff areas
Most government offices combine a public counter or service area with staff offices behind it. The two zones need different access control, different finishes and often different hours. Clear separation keeps staff safe and the public comfortable.
Accessibility is central. Wide doors, clear paths, accessible counters, washrooms and signage need to be planned from the first drawing, following the Alberta Building Code.
Security and records
Secure areas, records rooms and reception counters often call for access control, cameras, intrusion alarms and reinforced walls. Our low voltage team, led by Adam Mason, installs alarms, surveillance and related systems in-house.
Wall construction matters too. Our interior systems crew, led by Brian Wright, builds partitions to the ceiling deck and seals them for sound and fire separation where required.
Reliable building systems
These buildings have to stay open. Our Master Electrician-led crew handles power, lighting, emergency lighting and fire alarm devices, and our mechanical team handles HVAC and plumbing. Having them under one company makes shutdowns easier to schedule and shorter.
Public-sector clients often have set procurement steps, documentation and reporting. We keep clear records and plan the schedule around approvals so nothing stalls on paperwork.
What to plan for
Renovations in occupied government buildings usually need phasing, so services continue. We agree on work zones, after-hours tasks and noise limits before starting.
Our Director of Health & Safety, Ghilda Gaber, leads site safety, and we handle municipal building permits and Alberta Safety Codes permits as part of delivery.
Cost, schedule and communication
Government and public-sector clients usually need a clear scope, a firm schedule and regular reporting. We provide a single project manager as your point of contact, and our calls and email are answered 24/7/365 if something comes up.
Because we self-perform so much of the work, we can show you who is responsible for each part of the job, which makes reporting and accountability simpler.
