What makes a headquarters different
Head offices carry more variety than a standard fit-out. There may be a reception and client floor, executive areas, large meeting rooms, a staff lounge, server space and quiet work zones, all with different finishes, acoustics and lighting.
Brand matters too. Feature walls, millwork, specialty ceilings and custom lighting often carry the company identity, and these details need skilled carpentry and careful coordination with the electrical layout.
Who does the work
HSM self-performs the electrical, mechanical, low voltage, framing, drywall, ceilings, millwork, painting and door hardware. Our Master Electrician leads the electrical team, and our Director of Engineering, Dr. Magdy Istafanous, oversees in-house engineering.
That matters on a headquarters because lighting, air distribution, data and security all meet in the same ceiling and wall cavities. When one team plans them together, there are fewer clashes and less rework.
Common challenges
Headquarters projects often involve larger floor plates, multiple floors or occupied buildings. Typical issues include:
- Shared building systems and landlord requirements for any change to them
- Acoustic separation between open areas and private rooms
- Power and cooling for server rooms and AV
- Phasing so staff can keep working or move in stages
- Long lead times on specialty lighting and materials
Planning your project
Start with the lease. Early involvement lets HSM review a candidate space, estimate construction cost and negotiate allowances before you commit. Then design and engineering confirm the layout and systems, and our trades build it.
For a sense of what we deliver at scale, our featured work includes a 40,000+ sq ft office renovation completed in eight months for $4,000,000, with more than 100 specialty light fixtures and specialty materials from suppliers such as Arktura, eurOptimum, FilzFelt, CGC and Xorel.
Questions we hear
Can HSM help with site selection?
Yes. We get involved before the lease to review candidate spaces and the construction cost that comes with them.
