Dental Office Construction

Dental offices have more building services per room than most clinics. HSM's own mechanical and electrical crews handle the plumbing, power and utilities each operatory needs.

Dental Office Construction

The operatory is the core

Each treatment room needs water, drainage, power, data and often compressed air and vacuum lines. Chair locations are fixed by the dentist's workflow, so utilities must be laid out before the slab or walls are closed.

Our mechanical team handles plumbing and HVAC, and our Master Electrician-led crew handles power and lighting. Coordinating them with the dental equipment supplier avoids surprises.

Sterilization, x-ray and labs

Sterilization areas need clean and dirty flow, sinks, counter space and ventilation. X-ray rooms or panoramic equipment may require wall shielding and specific construction, which is specified by the equipment and regulatory requirements.

Many offices also add a small lab, storage and a staff room. We plan these with the clinic's workflow in mind.

Comfort and atmosphere

Patients are often anxious, so a calm waiting area, soft lighting and a quiet environment matter. Good sound control between operatories helps. Our interior systems crew builds walls and ceilings to reduce noise, and our carpenters build reception desks and cabinetry.

Operatories need balanced air and comfortable temperatures, which our HVAC crew sets up with zoning.

Systems and security

Our low voltage team installs data cabling for imaging and practice software, as well as cameras and alarms. Drug and records storage may call for access control.

Plan for backup and surge protection for sensitive equipment, and discuss with us where the compressor and vacuum pump will sit and how noise will be handled.

Plan ahead

Dental equipment often has long lead times and specific installation requirements. Order early and confirm rough-in details before closing walls. Early involvement before the lease helps confirm the space can support the services you need.

Chairs, delivery units, imaging, cabinetry and sterilizers come from specialist suppliers. We coordinate their rough-in requirements with our trades so water, power, air and data are in the right place on installation day. Finished cabinetry is built or installed by our carpenters, with tops and sinks aligned to the equipment.
