Coolers and display
Walk-in coolers and display fridges are a main feature. They need dedicated circuits, proper drainage, structural support and ventilation. Our Master Electrician-led crew handles the electrical, and our mechanical team handles plumbing and HVAC.
Lighting needs to show off bottles without causing glare on glass doors. We lay out and aim fixtures with the shelving plan in mind.
Shelving and floors
Bottles are heavy. Floors, shelving and wall backing need to carry the load, and floors need to be easy to clean and safe if something spills. Our carpenters build counters, shelving and backing for fixtures.
Stockrooms and receiving areas need sturdy doors and hardware, since deliveries are heavy and frequent.
Heavy cases of product move through the store daily, so walls at corners and doorways may need protection such as guards and reinforced backing. We build this in during framing rather than adding it later.
Security and compliance
Alcohol retail is regulated provincially, and licensing rules can affect layout and security. Confirm requirements early with your licensing contact and landlord. Our low voltage team installs cameras, alarms and access control that support these needs.
Secure storage rooms are built with solid walls, strong doors and reliable locks, all handled by our interior systems and door crews.
Working in an existing store
Many liquor stores renovate while trading. We stage the work, protect product, and set up temporary barriers. Noisy work happens after closing when possible.
Cooler replacements are planned so that stock is moved or protected and downtime is short.
Planning notes
Equipment lead times, signage approvals and permit timing can all affect opening. Winter deliveries of coolers and shelving need clear access and protection. HSM keeps one schedule across trades so these items stay in sync.
Our team can also supply security systems, networks and ongoing building maintenance after opening, so the cooler, lighting and camera systems are looked after by the people who built them.
