Preparation comes first
Most paint problems start before the paint. Dust, uneven drywall joints, unsealed patches and moisture all show through the finish. Our painters inspect walls after the drywall crew finishes, mark flaws for correction and only then start primer.
Because both crews are HSM staff, that feedback is quick. A light check under strong lamps usually reveals imperfections that show later under real lighting, and they are repaired before the finish coats go on.
Choosing the right system
Different rooms need different paint. Offices and corridors usually take durable low-sheen finishes. Washrooms and kitchens need moisture-resistant, washable coatings. Healthcare and food areas may need coatings that tolerate frequent cleaning. Doors, frames and trim often get a harder semi-gloss or enamel finish.
Low-odour, low-VOC products are widely available and are often preferred in occupied buildings, schools and clinics. We discuss options with clients so the product suits the space and the building's rules.
Colour deserves attention too. Samples on the actual wall, viewed in the real lighting, are far more reliable than a small chip. Accent walls, bold colours and dark shades usually need extra coats and careful cutting-in.

What to plan for
Sequence matters. Painting should follow drywall and dusty work and come before flooring, millwork installation and final fixtures when possible. Our foremen manage that order, and our painters return for touch-ups after other trades finish.
Ventilation and drying time are real considerations. In occupied buildings, we schedule work after hours and use containment and air movement to protect staff. In winter, the building must be warm enough for paint to cure properly.
Ask about a final walk-through. Looking at walls in daylight and with all lights on is the best way to find missed areas, and our crew can correct them straight away.
