Glass Partitions

Glass partitions bring light into the middle of a floor while still separating rooms. HSM installs them with its own crew and coordinates the details around them.

Glass Partitions

Why glass partitions

Glass partitions let daylight travel deeper into an office, keep sightlines open and make small spaces feel larger. They are common in meeting rooms, offices, clinics and reception areas. Systems may be framed in aluminum or frameless with glass held by channels and clips.

Glass can be clear, frosted, patterned or fitted with film for privacy. Some systems include integrated blinds. Acoustic performance varies, and standard glass lets sound through more easily than a solid wall.

Precision and coordination

Glass leaves little room for error. Floors and ceilings must be level and the openings measured accurately. Because glass is ordered to size, mistakes are expensive. Our installers measure after the slab, ceiling grid and adjacent walls are in place, and verify before ordering.

Safety glass is used in partitions, and doors need appropriate hardware. Our door installers fit hinges, patch fittings, locks and closers, and our low voltage team connects card readers where required.

Lighting and ceilings meet the glass at the head, so our electrical team and ceiling crews coordinate their layout. Where a partition runs to a rated wall or a mechanical line, our team plans the connections in advance to preserve fire and air requirements.

What to plan for

Privacy and sound are the main design questions. If conversations must stay private, ask about acoustic glass, seals and full-height construction, and consider where solid walls are better.

Plan for cleaning and fingerprints. Glass shows marks, and finishes like frosted film can hide them. Decorative film at eye level also helps people see the glass and avoids collisions.

Lead times and protection matter. Glass can be damaged on site, so we store and install it late in the schedule when the area is clean and finished trades are done.
