What retail fixtures involve
Fixtures include wall displays, gondolas, cash wraps, service counters, fitting rooms, shelving systems and branded feature pieces. Some are standard units from a supplier. Others are custom pieces that carry a brand's look.
Store openings are often tied to hard dates, such as a lease start, a seasonal launch or a landlord requirement, so the fixture schedule is just as important as the quality.
Lighting, power and merchandising
In a store, lighting sells the product. Fixtures often include integrated lighting, display lighting or power for screens and signs. Our electrical team, led by Master Electrician Adam Williams, installs the circuits, controls and fixtures so the lighting works with the millwork, not against it.
Cash wraps and service counters need power, data and payment terminal connections, plus security devices where appropriate. Our low voltage team handles those connections while our carpenters build the counter around them.
Because HSM can also handle floor finishes, ceilings, painting and doors, the store is delivered as a whole. Fixtures are placed over finished floors and under finished ceilings, and nobody has to work around another contractor's mess.

What to plan for
Retail fixtures are often shipped from manufacturers, and delivery delays can hold up an opening. We confirm ship dates and plan installation sequences carefully, including receiving space and storage on site.
Fixtures should be anchored properly. Tall displays and wall units need blocking in the walls, and heavy pieces may need floor anchors. Our interior systems team puts blocking in during framing, not after the paint.
Think about flexibility. Many retailers refresh displays seasonally, so adjustable shelving, movable units and flexible power layouts save money over time. Mall and landlord rules also apply, and we review them early.
