Building in Edmonton
Edmonton has a wide mix of commercial buildings, from downtown towers and older mid-rise offices to suburban retail centres, clinics and industrial bays. Each type brings different issues. Older downtown buildings may have tight loading, shared systems and strict rules from building management. Newer suburban buildings tend to offer easier access but still depend on landlord approvals and permit timing.
We take on tenant improvements, interior and exterior renovations, base building upgrades and new construction up to $50,000,000.
How we serve Edmonton
Our head office is at Suite 3400, 10180 101 St NW, Edmonton, and our second office is in St. Albert. Edmonton projects are within easy reach of both, which means project managers and trade leads can visit often and respond quickly. Phone 1 800 716 8955 or email contact@hsmcm.ca. Calls and email are answered 24/7/365.
Edmonton owners also benefit from our health and safety program, led by Ghilda Gaber, and from in-house engineering under Dr. Magdy Istafanous. These are part of every project, from a small suite refresh to a large renovation, and they sit under CEO Hazim Gaber.
Our own trades on your project
Most of the work on an Edmonton project is carried out by HSM crews. Our Master Electrician leads the electrical team, and our mechanical crews handle HVAC and plumbing. Our interiors team builds walls, ceilings and millwork, and our low voltage team installs security, alarms and AV. One schedule across these trades is a major reason projects run smoothly.
- Electrical and mechanical work
- Low voltage and security
- Framing, drywall and ceilings
- Carpentry and millwork
- Painting, doors and hardware
Local considerations
Winter is a real factor in Edmonton. Cold temperatures affect exterior work, deliveries and building heating during construction. We plan around them. City permits and building rules also vary by area and building, and we check them early. Downtown projects often need booked freight elevators and after-hours work, which we build into the plan.
Planning your project
Many Edmonton clients bring us in before signing a lease. We review the space, estimate the work and help you negotiate with real figures. We also deliver turn-key services such as security, digital signage, networks, furniture and ongoing building maintenance.
Questions we hear
Can you work in an occupied building?
Yes. We plan phasing, noise limits, dust control and after-hours work with your property manager.
