Building in Calgary
Calgary has a large commercial market with downtown towers, suburban offices, retail, clinics and industrial space. Competition for tenants is real, and good space matters. We work with clients who want a contractor outside their usual circle, and who value self-performed trades.
How we serve Calgary
HSM is based in Edmonton and St. Albert. For Calgary projects, we assign a project manager and a site superintendent, and mobilize our own trades. We plan travel, accommodation and schedule so the work is efficient. Phone 1 800 716 8955 or email contact@hsmcm.ca. Calls and email are answered 24/7/365.
We are realistic about the market. Calgary has many capable contractors, and for small or urgent work a local firm may be better placed. Where HSM adds the most is on projects where self-performed electrical, mechanical and interior trades give you one accountable team, and where our early lease and design advice saves money.
Our own trades on your project
Distance makes self-performing even more useful. Our own electricians, led by a Master Electrician, our own mechanical crews, interior systems crews, carpenters, painters and low voltage technicians travel as one team. That reduces dependence on outside firms. Where local subcontractors are best, for example for roofing or specialty glazing, we tender and manage them.
- Tenant improvements and office renovations
- Clinic and retail fit-ups
- Base building mechanical and electrical upgrades
- Projects for owners based in Alberta's other cities
Local considerations
Calgary has its own municipal permit processes, and we work through them with the city. Costs for travel and accommodation are explained in our estimate. Projects of a size and complexity where an Edmonton crew makes sense are a good fit. We are honest if a local contractor would serve you better.
Planning your project
Call us early. Share your plans, schedule and building details. We will discuss feasibility, travel logistics and a realistic budget. If you operate in both cities, we can also coordinate work in Edmonton.
