What it means
A typical meeting room system includes a display or projector, speakers, a microphone, a camera for video calls, and a control panel or wireless sharing device. Larger rooms may need several microphones, ceiling speakers, signal processing and more than one screen.
Cabling, power and mounting structures need to be planned along with the equipment.
Why it matters
AV is easiest to get right during construction. Blocking in the wall for a heavy display, conduit to the table, power at the right height and a network connection all need to be in place before drywall is finished. Adding them later means opening walls and repainting.
Good room acoustics and lighting also affect how well the system performs.
How HSM handles it
HSM's low voltage group installs audio-visual systems, working with the rest of our crews. Our carpenters add backing in the walls, our electricians run the power, and our interior systems team plans the walls and ceilings for sound. We also provide digital signage and computer networks as part of our turn-key services.
We talk with you about how each room will be used so that the equipment fits. We then test every room with you before handover.
What to plan for
Decide on a platform for video calls early, since it affects the equipment. Plan for how staff will learn the rooms, and ask us for simple instructions to leave in each space.
Ask about maintenance and support after installation. Cables, software and firmware need attention, and we can discuss ongoing support as part of our turn-key services.
