What self-performing means
Self-performing means our own employees do the work. At HSM, that includes electrical, led by a Master Electrician, and mechanical, covering HVAC and plumbing. It also includes low voltage and security, interior systems such as framing, drywall and ceilings, carpentry and millwork, painting, and doors and hardware.
We still bring in specialists when a project needs them. But the core of the work is ours.
Why electrical and mechanical matter most
Electrical and mechanical systems are often the most complex, costly and schedule-sensitive parts of a building. They also have to fit in tight spaces above ceilings, inside walls and through structure.
When one company controls them, conflicts are resolved on paper before they cost money on site. Power, ductwork, plumbing, lighting and ceilings are planned together, and inspections are lined up in a sensible order.
What clients get
The benefits are practical and easy to feel:
- One schedule that we control directly
- One accountable team, with no finger-pointing between firms
- Tighter quality control, because we inspect our own work
- Better cost control, with fewer markups and gaps between scopes
- Faster response, because our crews are already on site
- A single phone number, answered 24/7/365
Backed by engineering and planning
Self-performing works best with strong planning. Our in-house engineering, led by Dr. Magdy Istafanous, reviews systems early, and our project managers sequence our crews so they work well together.
The result is a project that moves steadily, a budget that is easier to understand and a finished building that one team stands behind. After handover we offer building maintenance and turn-key services such as security systems, digital signage, computer networks and furniture.
For owners with several locations or repeat projects, self-performing also builds familiarity. Our crews learn your standards, your preferred materials and your building rules, and the next project goes more smoothly.
Questions we hear
Does HSM use subcontractors at all?
We self-perform most of the work. When a project needs a specialist trade, we manage it as part of our single schedule.
